Day 5: Imagine that you are on the Mayflower. Write a letter home to your friends in England telling them what the journey is like and what you’re looking forward to...
Dearest Friends,
This journey is taking a very long time; truthfully,I'm unsure if the Captain even still has the map. We've had some days that are good and the weather is beautiful; where as, some days its miserable and people get sea sick. We've had terrible storms too, we thought we would all die. The ship is also overly crowded and some people have died.
The days with good weather I go above deck and watch the horizon, I always hope it will be the good days when we find land. I like to watch the clouds and these large fish that follow the boat, the sailors call them dolphins. Some days there aren't many clouds or dolphins and usually the waves aren't to bad. Occasionally we will see a large tail come our of the water or something blowing out water from a hole in its head.
I'm most looking forward to probably not being cramped in such tight quarters. I'm also looking forward to dry land, trees, little animals, a soft bed and exploring this new country we're going to.
Yours,
Katie
