November Blog Challenge Day 9: Describe your favorite Thanksgiving memory.

Day 9: Describe your favorite Thanksgiving memory.

My parents divorced when I was3 years old so all holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas have always been split between 2 different houses.

Thanksgiving my my moms family at my Grandparent's home in Kingsport, TN near the Tennessee border with Virginia.  My mom (unless she was working), my uncles, my aunts, my 2 cousins (later with their wives), my brother, and my grandparents where always there. My grandma would take up the entire oven and stove top with food by the time she was finished cooking. The counter by the sink would be filled with everything that the rest of my family had brought with them.

Thanksgiving with my dad's family would be at my Grandparent's as well. They lived in Damascus, VA. It was around 1 hour to 1 hour & 1/2 drive to get from one house to the other. My Grandma and Aunt would cook. It was always my grandparents, my dad, my brothers ( I have a stepbrother; however, our dad divorced his mom in the late 1990s), my stepmother, my cousins, my aunt & uncle, and my oldest cousins husband and 2 kids.

There would be a wide variety of food at both houses:

  • Turkey
  • Pies
  • Cakes
  • Rolls
  • Casseroles
  • Fruits
  • Vegetables
  • Varied drinks
