Myrtle Beach, SC:
- 7/6/2001 there was a Tornado that touched down on the beach. I'm unsure of total damage done but as far as I'm aware there was only 39 injuries and no deaths.
- In 1989 Hurricane Hugo hit. It caused 21 deaths in the the US alone. It caused $7 billion in damages.
- The Charleston Earthquake of 1886 was a powerful earthquake that hit Charleston, South Carolina, and the East Coast of the US. The shaking occurred at about 9:50 p.m. on August 31, 1886, and lasted just under a minute. The earthquake caused severe damage in Charleston, damaging 2,000 buildings and causing between five and eight million worth in damage($125 to 200 million in 2014 dollars), while in the whole city the buildings were only valued at approximately $24 million. Between 60 and 110 lives were lost.
- The January 2007 North American ice storm was a severe ice storm that affected a large swath of North America from the Rio Grande Valley to New England and southeastern Canada starting on January 11 - 16 2007, followed by a second wave in the Southern United States from Texas to the Carolinas from January 16 - January 18 and a third one that hit the southern Plains and mid-Atlantic states as well as Newfoundland and Labrador from January 19 - 24. It resulted in at least 74 deaths across 12 U.S. states and three Canadian provinces, and caused hundreds of thousands of residents across the U.S and Canada to lose electric power.
- There have also be several nor'easter to pass in 1994, 2006,and 2007.All passing over several state and into Canada.
- Galveston Hurricane of 1900. Estimated Number of Fatalities: 12,000-6,000. Location: Galveston, Texas.
- 1906 San Francisco Earthquake. Estimated Number of Fatalities : 6,000-3,000. Location: San Francisco, California. **Note: These estimates include deaths from both the initial earthquake and the massive fire that followed.
- 1928 Okeechobee Hurricane. Estimated Number of Fatalities: 3,000. Location: Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas and Florida.
- 1889 Johnstown Flood. Estimated Number of Fatalities: 2,209. Location: Pennsylvania.
- Hurricane Katrina - 2005. Estimated Number of Fatalities: 1,836. Location: U.S. Gulf Coast (Louisiana, Florida, Mississippi and Alabama).
- 1980 Heat Wave. Estimated Number of Fatalities: 1,700. Location: Southern and Central U.S. States.
- Peshtigo Fire - 1871. Estimated Number of Fatalities: 1,200+. Location: Peshtigo, Wisconsin.
- 1893 Sea Islands Hurricane. Estimated Number of Fatalities: 1,000+. Location: Georgia and South Carolina.
- 1995 Chicago Heat Wave. Estimated Number of Fatalities: 739.Location: Chicago, Illinois.
- Tri-State Tornado - 1925. Estimated Number of Fatalities: 695-727. Location: Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee.
